Inside My Branding Brain: How I Dream Up Visual Direction That Converts

You know that feeling when you see a brand and go ugh, this is sooo her?

That’s no accident. That’s creative direction with a pulse.

In this post, I’m showing you how I go from chaotic inspo dumps to fully formed brand visions that stop scrolls and stir souls.

Where I Start

Yes, I use Pinterest. But I also start with:

  • A perfume scent

  • A Lana Del Rey lyric

  • A memory of a silk dress at golden hour

I ask: What does this brand feel like in a movie scene?

The Five Senses I Always Consider:

  1. Color — Not just palette, but emotional tone

  2. Light — Harsh flash or soft grain?

  3. Motion — Static or cinematic?

  4. Feeling — Is this brand sensual, sacred, chaotic, cool?

  5. Sound — What would the soundtrack be?

From Moodboard to Visual Identity

Moodboarding is a flirtation. Creative direction is the commitment. Once I’ve got the vibe, I begin refining:

  • Fonts that match the story

  • Textures that mirror the vibe

  • Shot list and styling notes that align with emotion

Example: GODDESS YOGA SPRING 2025

We started with a single image of a filmic shot of girls in an old Mustang convertible and ended up creating a visual that turned into a Goddess Mastery Training campaign. That’s the power of direction with depth.

For You, Muse

Want to create a visual direction that actually moves people? Start with what you feel, not just what you see.

(Or just hire me. I’ll bring the vision.)
